River

Located just outside of Jamestown Tennessee, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area encompasses more than 125,000 acres in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Oscar Blevins Farm

This very well preserved farmhouse was built in the 1870's and sits along the Oscar Blevins Farm Loop trail. There are a couple of other barns and structures on the site as well.

Fall Colors

This particular trip was taken in early fall. A late summer drought stunted the color change a bit, but there was still some stunning fall foliage.

Footbridge

There are more natural rock shelters and caves along the trails of Big South Fork than any other park I've hiked.

Trail

There are more than 150 miles of hiking trails in Big South Fork. There are an additional 150 or so miles of combined hiking/horseback/biking trails.

High "Clifts"

Like many Cumberland Plateau parks, Big South Fork is characterized by high ridges and deep gorges.

Bluffs

There are no designated campsites in the backcountry here, but there are quite a few frequently used areas along the trails.

River

An impressive river runs through Big South Fork and is popular with canoeists, fishermen and rafters. A number of trails and campsites are located along the river.
