Meals and Recipes

Lunch

This page is divided into two sections: meals you can buy off the shelf at your local outfitter or grocery store, and meals you make yourself and toss into a Ziplok bag.

Mouse over the Meals and Recipes page link for some good menu options.

Dinner Coals

My focus when planning backpacking meals is on nutritional and caloric value, food weight, and of course, deliciousness! It's important to carry properly prepared meals into the backcountry that provide the fuel you need, don't weigh you down unnecessarily, and perhaps most importantly, you look forward to enjoying after long hours on the trail.

The store-bought meals are pretty self explanatory and hard to go wrong with. The recipes page features meals that work for me, but you'll certainly want to experiment with them before trusting them in the backcountry.
